When Trump attacks US Intelligence

Day after day, President-elect Donald Trump is attacking a branch of government. American citizens are advised that government is an instrument of We the People for providing essential services and protections that are needed and expected by them. Government departments and agencies are created by acts of law, and their performance is a requirement, not an option.

When Donald Trump attacks our intelligence agency, he is attacking the American people. As an executive, his job is to ensure that the agency is properly managed and is operating in accordance with legislated requirements and standards. He will be measured by how well he accomplishes that.

Trump is conflicted because his election was influenced by Russians. He is in denial about that because he is complicit with them. He is attacking the intelligence agency because undermining them weakens the evidence against him, he thinks.

Well, that is wrong. Trump is wrong and his party is absolutely wrongly-headed.

The opposition to Donald Trump needs a prompt organization to mount the rule of law against his apparent attempt to undermine democracy in America.

Using the words treason, and pushing for ultimate penalties against lawmakers who are complicit with him should be the aim.

“18 U.S. Code § 2381 - TreasonCurrent through Pub. L. 114-38. (See Public Laws for the current Congress.)US CodeWhoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.(June 25, 1948, ch. 645, 62 Stat. 807Pub.
