The two directors explained that while investigations into the Russian-Trump connection, including collusion, is ongoing, they cannot provide any details. Furthermore, they must protect national security secrets in the process which precludes their being mum to most questions.

This hearing focused on the specific accusation by Trump about wire-tapping. The greater issues about Trump's Emolument Clause Violations and Misprision may well lie in the on-going investigations.
That does not preclude Democratic Leaders and independent organizations such as the American Civil Liberties Union from proceeding with legal actions.
The President's lying is a federal crime. He lied and slandered former President Obama, among hundreds of other lies, all of which are crimes.

It is apparent that the Republican Party intends to draw the wagons into a circle to protect their President. That is akin to obstruction of justice. They will nuance and attempt distract as that is what their leader does. In the end, the facts will lead to the termination of the Trump Presidency and maybe more.
