Republicans engage in Trump coverup

Impeaching the President must start by impeaching the gatekeepers.

Facts about President Trump's alleged violations of the law and his oath of office that are proven, observable, and indisputable demand attention by the Department of Justice and Congress. What happens when the Speaker of the House and Senate Majority Leader fail to investigate?

Such behavior constitutes obstruction of justice and dereliction of oath and duty.

"Obstruction may consist of any attempt to hinder the discovery, apprehension, conviction or punishment of anyone who has committed a crime. The acts by which justice is obstructed may include bribery, murder, intimidation, and the use of physical force against witnesses, law enforcement officers or court officials."

What are the charges?

  1. Violation of the Emolument Clause of the U.S. Constitution preventing conflicts of interest
  2. Violation of the Misprision law for covering up lies
  3. Making untruthful remarks repeatedly including slander and libel as a matter of routine

Who is the best voice of the opposition to take the case forward to appeal the obstruction of justice and to make the charges?

  1. Leaders and their counsel for the Democratic Party
  2. American Civil Liberties Union
  3. Other legal authorities in Constitutional Law

To whom do they present their case?

  • The U.S. Court through appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court

Now, I ask you, why is this so difficult?

"Republicans take heat on Trump's tax returns
Most of the Republicans who have called for President Trump to release his tax returns have declined to join efforts to use the power of Congress to make it happen.

Only two Republicans who think Trump should make his finances public have joined in Democratic-led attempts to demand the tax returns from the IRS.

At least 10 other GOP lawmakers have said Trump should release his tax returns during the 2016 campaign and recent interviews or town hall meetings with constituents. But they've declined to support measures to compel the release of the returns, including during three House floor votes forced by Democrats."

Oust him, by all legal means.

  1. "Yesterday, Feinstein met with FBI Director James Comey to discuss President Trump and the various investigations into his affairs.

She looked shaken and “white as a ghost” when she emerged from the meeting, but would not give any details at the time.

Today, one of her constituents asked her about the meeting and about Trump’s conduct in general, and how we would start going about impeaching him:

You just looked white as a ghost yesterday when you came out of that meeting. And we don’t know what’s happening. But we know that he is breaking laws everyday. He’s making money on Mar-a-Lago. He’s getting copyrights in China. He has obvious dealings with Russia. The Dakota pipeline. There’s so many things he is doing that are unconstitutional. How are we gonna get him out? That’s what I want to know.
Feinstein’s response will make you hopeful for the future:

Well, we have a lot of people working at this. Technical people. And I think he’s gonna get himself out. I think sending sons to another country to make a financial deal for his company and then have that covered with government expenses — I think those government expenses should not be allowed…

Let me finish. We are working on a bill that will do that now. We’re working on a couple of bills that would deal with conflict of interest. It’s difficult because this is a field that relates to some extent to the Emoluments Clause of the Constitution. And there’s no preceding legislation to do this. But we’ve got good people looking at it. And we’re going to some of the ethicists along the line.

I’ve been doing what I do for a long time and I’ve never seen anything like this.
President Trump has been violating the emoluments clause of the Constitution since the moment he was inaugurated. He has refused to divest himself from his businesses, uses taxpayer money to send his sons on Trump Organization business trips, holds meetings at his private Mar-a-lago club every weekend…the list goes on and on.

Corruption and nepotism has been the Trump modus operandi for decades"
