Incompetence at selecting presidential candidates

Honestly, I am not trying to be a sleazy journalist who picks on Republicans. To be fair, neither political party is performing acceptably to produce well-vetted and superbly qualified candidates for president of the United States. The parties never took the responsibility so seriously that they produced standards for the process and the candidates. No one knows what they are doing.

However, today's news includes something old and something new.

  • Old news is that many Republicans feel hijacked by Donald Trump, that is, he has taken their name and somehow tarnished their brand.
  • Old news is that the Republican Party is divided between ultra right-wing conservatives and moderate to middle-leaning Republicans.

As the author of a soon to be published book titled How to Select an American President by James A. George and James A. Rodger (c) 2016 Archway Publishing, I spell out how to evaluate presidential candidate resumes. You can read more about that in related articles in this blog.

  • New news: Here, I will apply a part of the technique to evaluate the names of two prospective candidates; one is David A. French, suggested by conservatives as a replacement for Donald Trump. The other, Bob Corker is suggested as a possible VP running mate with Donald Trump.

In both instances, the standards for president and vice president are identical since the VP is often called upon to assume the office of President.

Right now, the GOP appears to be groping for candidates instead of having nurtured and prepared their party leadership. They have failed to recruit seasoned statesmen from business, industry, and government, persons who have a combination of extraordinary success as executives of large-scale commercial enterprise, followed by having managed a large state government or large city of significant size and representative populations.

American government needs are the people's needs, and they are complex. There are specific priority outcomes that citizens must expect with high certainty and assurance from a fully functional government under executive leadership and management.

At this very late stage in the election cycle for 2016, Republican political party performance is a complete disaster.

Donald Trump is a billionaire real estate mogul who is a one trick pony. He knows commercial real estate development in the capitalist economic model. His company is virtually a large-scale family-owned business. There is nothing wrong with that except when attempting to apply his style of management to a diversified and complex government enterprise about which he knows very little or nothing and for which he has no government experience. His party should not have accepted him as a member of their ranks to pursue the highest office. His qualifications and credentials are insufficient.

Examining David A. French, he is a relatively young candidate who is a veteran officer. He has excellent academic credentials and is a Harvard-trained lawyer it appears. However, he has not invented a product, created a large-scale commercial enterprise, or even managed one. He turned professional politician, and that is the wrong direction to prepare to be President of the United States.

As for Bob Corker, he founded a successful construction company. He was mayor of Chattanooga, Tennessee. He has no acceptable credentials for becoming Vice President. His attitude toward minorities is unacceptable if you care to research his background.

Therefore, the GOP is a bust for Election 2016, and this analyst believes that most Americans will draw that conclusion too. You will have to wait for the book for more of the answers unless you have specific questions. I will answer them.
