Not In My Lifetime

Never have I voted Republican in an election.

The reasons include:

  1. Their platforms never addressed my needs
  2. Misaligned with my beliefs is their ideology in policies and practices
  3. Their demonstrated favor for the wealthy and corporations at the expense of the ordinary citizens
  4. They disrespect the rule of law and demonstrate a willingness to undermine the U.S. Constitution.

Yet, they had the nerve to send an email to me soliciting my support!

Donald Trump and the members of Congress who went along with him and the big lie and actions to incite an insurrection must be tried for treason. Those members of government who requested pardons must be expelled from office at once.

Trump emailed this, showing his daghter
instead of Pence.

Plain Language Act

"Ignorance of the law is no excuse," said Thomas Jefferson.

Written must be laws for all people to understand.

It was not until 2010 that Congress passed the "Plain Language Act," requiring all federal agencies to use language that people can understand. What about all the laws and regulations on the books; must they also be examined for understandability?

How can the government require compliance with incomprehensible laws without lawyers arguing their meaning?

"A stake was driven through the heart of American democracy on January 6, 2021, and our democracy today is on a knife's edge.

America was at war on that fateful day, but not against a foreign power. She was at war against herself. We Americans were at war with each other -- over our democracy.

January 6 was but the next foreseeable battle in a war that had been raging in America for years, though that day was the most consequential battle of that war even to date. In fact, January 6 was a separate war unto itself, a war for America's democracy, a war irresponsibly instigated and prosecuted by the former president, his political party allies, and his supporters. Both wars are raging to this day." Judge J. Michael Luttig

Those words, one can understand.

Dear Jaime (Harrison):

When you failed to defeat Lindsey Graham, I was sorry. However, that should not have elevated your prominence in the Democratic Party. Please resign immediately and let someone with a winning record assume the position. You can recommend someone if you wish.

The party is on a losing track, and we need emergency action now.

Sincerely,

JAG

Dear Mr. President:

I think you are performing very well in handling the Ukraine-Russian war. I believe your leadership in leading us away from fossil fuels is excellent. I think your choice of V.P. is a disaster and undermines our future. Therefore, I ask that you call for a new presidential candidate for 2024 and step down.

Sincerely,

JAG

Dear Vice President Harris:

I have no words for how disappointed I am in your performance. I was against your selection as V.P.

Sincerely,

JAG

Republicanism

Most Americans are not scientists, and many fewer are scholars of any subject. That is a problem in a competitive world where China has more geniuses than America has a population. They have us outgunned in the brain department.

Theoretically, what's holding our competitors from authoritarian states at bay is our democratic republic that promotes individualism and personal liberty.

However, the system fails when ignorant people embrace personal liberty as an excuse or substitute for higher learning and intellect. That is where we stand today.

The Republican Party of capitalists and the wealthy few know they don't have the numbers to win elections unless they exploit ignorance and bigotry, corralling them into a majority.

The truth is, that America remains in a civil war, a daily struggle where most people want equality and justice under the rule of law. Republicans have become blatant liars, embracing false information, and undermining our democracy.

Checked at zero must be tolerance for insurrection and undemocratic behavior.

The Republican Party should be facing disenfranchisement as an institution until or unless they purge themselves of hateful and undemocratic ideology.

John Adams said, "the science of politics is the science of social happiness." We are not happy.

"Republicanism is a political ideology centered on citizenship in a state-organized as a republic. Historically, it ranges from the rule of a representative minority or oligarchy to popular sovereignty. It has had different definitions and interpretations, varying significantly based on historical context and methodological approach.

Republicanism may also refer to the non-ideological scientific approach to politics and governance."

Traitors Among Us

Today's headline is that the evidence links former President Donald Trump with the insurrection that nearly managed to keep him in office.

Trump incited and led the insurrection. His political party and leaders were complicit before and after; some remain in Congress and are walking among us.

The trouble is they used lying and cheating to convince many Americans that he won when Trump lost. Now, Republicans are deriding President Biden, implying they would do better. The Republican Party betrayed the nation and put our democracy on the precipice of failing.

America is a failing state until Republicans are purged from office. Both parties are held accountable for vetting candidates to ensure their first loyalty is preserving our democratic republic.

"Why the first Jan. 6 committee hearing doesn't bode well for Trump

The committee promises to clearly link former President Donald Trump with the insurrection that nearly managed to keep him in office."
