Is the DOJ Derelict in Duty?

AG Merrick Garland has taken no public action against any of Donald J. Trump's apparent crimes, none - zilch.

The American system of justice is supposed to render swift justice.

Justice is fairness in the way that people are treated.

swift event or process happens very quickly or without delay.

The fact is that it is more a wish than a promise. In the instance of a President abusing powers, undermining the rule of law, and inciting an insurrection, the Department of Justice is anything but swift in its actions. Worse, it doesn't appear to be doing much at all.

The Congressional Committee investigating the Jan 6 Insurrection has presented elements of its investigation backed by actionable testimony. The DOJ has considerably more power and resources to run a parallel study to corroborate the findings and discover more evidence.

Instead, the DOJ publicly appealed to Congress to share information before its complete process. That would indicate that Congress is further along than DOJ.

Congress said they might not make a criminal referral to the DOJ as it should be unnecessary to take a politically-inspired action. Instead, the DOJ should move swiftly. The Congressional investigation will likely conclude Thursday next week.

This citizen journalist remains jaded, skeptical, and cynical. Obama pleaded for people not to be cynical about the system. What is the basis for that?

"Article III of the Constitution establishes and empowers the judicial branch of the national government. The very first sentence of Article III says: "The judicial power of the United States, shall be vested in one Supreme Court, and in such inferior courts as the Congress may from time to time ordain and establish."
