Rough Way Ahead

Donald Trump, still being backed by the Republican Party, exposes a grave weakness in the American moral character. 25-35% of Americans support a candidate who is a twice-impeached former president, a failed gameshow host, a constant liar, a misogynist, and a fraudulent business executive is appalling. It staggers common sense.

Now, facing one of many anticipated indictments, Trump will continue to drag his following through his dirt, undermining the rule of law. He is a disgrace to the American democratic republic.

What is to be done about the universe of deplorable voters who Trump and the Republican Party duped?

Ignorance is intolerable, as are bigotry and hate. Can confidence in the media be restored after the Fox News Channel and its owners blatantly lied and became a propaganda machine for Republicans?

The nation faces a time when political parties need guardrails, laws, and regulations that hold them accountable for platforms and vetting candidates bearing their brand.

Amending The Second Amendment

"A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

The Second Amendment, Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, adopted in 1791 as part of the Bill of Rights, provided a constitutional check on congressional power under Article I Section 8 to organize, arm, and discipline the federal militia. (That was 15 years after America declared independence in 1776.

The NRA's interpretation:

"The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home."

Analysis: Ratified was The Second Amendment, and twenty-one years later, the War of 1812 with Britain broke. That meant the nation needed a militia in anticipation of foreign threats. Also recognized was the need for protecting citizens that exceeded local and state law enforcement capacity.

Armed with guns were citizens for two reasons: 1) to put meat on the table and 2) for self-protection.

Two-hundred thirty-two years later:

1) The nation has a military to protect against foreign enemies that the States National Guard augments.

2) Local and state governments have police forces to protect citizens.

3) The nation has Homeland Security to secure and safeguard citizens.

Diminished is the need for individuals to bear weapons (guns) as substituted by institutions created to serve the purpose.

Breached is where citizens bearing arms is more dangerous to society than being without them.

The Second Amendment Amended:

The Federal Government Departments of Defense and Homeland Security secure America against enemies, foreign and domestic. States augment the capability with National Guard Militias, State Patrols, and Local Law Enforcement. The Citizens' right to gun ownership is denied, though they may access them from authorized agencies that are regulated for recreational purposes.

 Woke

I have awakened to wokeness. I may have been awake to it for a long time. My beginning and end are the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and next the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights. Of course, about one-third of Americans are possessed by the devil and don't get it.

In activism and politics, woke (/ˈwoʊk/ WOHK) means 'alert to racial prejudice and discrimination.'

Being woke is shuttered in Florida by Governor DeSantis. Radical Republican ideologists edit the library. WTF, over?

"What is the meaning of 'woke'? Once a term used by Black Americans, it's now a rallying cry for GOP, Mabinty Quarshie, USA TODAY."

"During last week's Conservative Political Action Conference, speaker after speaker attacked "woke" ideology in their speeches to conservative activists.

Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley decried wokeness as "a virus more dangerous than any pandemic, hands down."

"I traveled the country calling out the woke industrial complex in America," GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy bragged.

Elsewhere, Republicans have declared war on "woke capitalism" and even introduced legislation like the "Stop WOKE Act" in Florida, an acronym for Stop the Wrongs to Our Kids and Employees."

Only a day away

Pacing around his spacious living room, talking to himself and Melania, who keeps her distance, he wonders if he packed correctly.

"I've been ready for two days, and Bragg hasn't called. They have my canceled checks, taped conversations, testimony for God knows everybody, and from that little weasel, Michael Cohen. What's the holdup?" lamented despondent Donald.

Melania reacted, "My bags are headed to Greece, sonny boy and I."

She mulls the possibility of one-day finding her Onassis.

The Way I See It

A wealthy man had an affair with a porn star and didn't want his wife to know. He asked his lawyer to fix the problem, mainly because he was about to become a candidate for the U.S. Presidency.

His lawyer-fixer knew not to leave a traceable trail. He negotiated the settlement with the porn star to keep her mouth shut; the amount was $130,000.

The lawyer-fixer took out a private loan independent of his family finances because he didn't want his wife to know his sordid task.

The lawyer fixer paid the porn star, and he billed his client for $130,000, which the client recorded as "legal fees."

When the client reported the "bribe" as being "legal fees," that was a violation of the tax code and a lie, a misdemeanor crime.

Since the client also used money from the election campaign to make the payment, that became a violation of Federal Election Law and a felony crime.

Now, what is hard to understand about that?

The evidence is canceled checks with the perpetrator's signature, supporting correspondence, and actions observed by others.

Trust is Elusive in America

When one of the leading political parties embraced lying, cheating, and fraud as its mantra, trust in America was undermined by nearly 50%.

Republicans failed to publish a platform while candidates bearing their brand freelance about their manifestos--waffling from one extreme to a further extreme--appealing to ignorance and bigotry they believe will win elections like Tucker Carlson won the FoxNews audience.

If you deceive yourself, then deception is your creed with me.

Carlson, laughing at the fools who listen to him.

Scoring Vivek Ramaswamy, Republican Candidate for President

When I first discovered Barack Obama and evaluated his resume, I believed it was light on experience and accomplishment. I considered that he was running on brute force intellect that, when combined with character and being a leader of the African-American community, he earned merit. I had reservations about his ability to manage the U.S. government enterprise since he needed executive-level management experience. In government as a candidate, he accomplished nothing.

I won't say that Barack Obama proved me wrong. He was an effective leader, though he came up short in unifying Americans.

Now, I see Vivek Ramaswamy, a native of Indian Hill, Cincinnati, a neighbor of sorts. He is representative of the conservative population in our community--though he does not represent them in government and never has.

I listened to Vivek speak today on CNN and agreed with nearly everything he said, except his not favoring student loan forgiveness. That is easy for him to say, coming from a wealthy family and being very rich. That is a problematic characteristic.

His resume from Wiki is below, and there is a link to his website.
