Who will save the US from Trump's tyranny?

The tyrannical trend of Donald Trump is manifest by lies and a pattern of deceptive behavior. The damage that he inflicts is insidious.

Are Americans concerned that President Trump is violating the Emolument Clause of the Constitution with continuing business conflicts of interest? Are they concerned about his apparent ethics violations? How about his violations of lying as a Federal government official? How about Misprision of Fraud?

Top that off with Trump's persistence in advancing an immigration ban that is unlawful because it was rooted in bigotry and religious discrimination that are violations of the Constitution.

Parallel with renegade and rogue Trump is a Republican Congress that is content to go along with their leader. Where does that leave the United States of America? How great is that?

Where are the American heroes who will rescue the nation by the rule of law?

Americans had better be prepared to make better choices in the future. Please read my book: How to Select an American President by James A. George with James A. Rodger (c) 2017 Archway Publishing.

On the President's Mind

Tonight's breaking Trump scandal is what is on his mind. According to his friend, Newsmax CEO, Chris Ruddy, the President and his legal counsel are contemplating firing Special Prosecutor, Robert Mueller. On the one hand, this analyst might think, "go ahead, make our day."

By that, I mean that act would likely divide and quarter the Republicans to such an extent that impeachment may advance. As likely would be that Congress would enact the calling of a special counsel to take the investigation that would be immune from the Executive branch interference.

Maybe this leak by Ruddy from the Trump House is just another act of dangling the ax over the head of the investigation. It is more evidence of obstruction of justice by President Trump.

As of this evening, Trump's thought is now more evidence. His thoughts and his mouth are what led to the courts banning his immigrant ban.

It is deadly serious that Donald Trump is attempting to destroy our government.

Tomorrow, we will see and hear the weakest link, Attorney General, Jeff Sessions. You can bet that he will have many questions that he will not answer, giving executive privilege as the reason.

You can also bet that Jeff Sessions will become unnerved and will make a stupid mistake.

This President is not of sound mind.

It will be their show again tomorrow.

Other Avenues to Nail Trump

Stop, thief, that man stole the presidency! While federal investigations in Congress meander and lope along, and the Special Prosecutor ramps up on a deliberate path, one may wonder if there are more speedy avenues to justice?

Yes, remember that every state in which Trump conducts business is entitled to his filing tax returns. If he received or earned money in various states and entities, he may have tax obligations. Therein,  he may violate the Emolument Clause with conflicts of interest if with payments by foreign entities.

The Trump tale will become a more tangled journey.

"D.C., Maryland to sue Trump over foreign payments to his businesses
The lawsuit by the jurisdictions’ two Democratic attorneys general, the first of its kind brought by a government entity, alleges the president has breached his constitutional oath and could open a new front for Trump as he navigates dueling investigations by special counsel Robert S. Mueller III and congressional committees into possible collusion between his associates and the Russian government during the 2016 presidential election.

No Admittance to the Liar's Club

Do Americans believe that a career FBI professional and trained attorney from the University of Chicago is a liar? James Comey will not be admitted to the liar's club because he tells the truth. He even said that he leaked his private memo that contains no confidential information to the press via a surrogate, only after Trump defamed him. He did so because Trump is a liar and something untoward was happening between Trump and the Attorney General. The executive branch is corrupted and he acted to expose it. He called in-coming on his position, and it worked.

Now, a Special Prosecutor is on the case: the Russian attack on elections, and the possible collusion by Trump campaign associates, while pointing firmly to Trump himself.

President Trump lies much of the time, and that is a matter of record. Once a liar, he cannot be trusted or believed about anything. That is where we find ourselves as Americans. Until he is ousted, the government cannot be trusted.

TRUMP VS. COMEY: HOPE AGAINST HOPE
By Anthony Lane   June 9, 2017
So where do the hopes that James Comey cited yesterday, in his own utterances and in his reports of others’ speech, belong?
As every scrap of James Comey’s testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee is pored over and picked apart, one word gleams brighter than any other. That word is “hope.” It is a common word, employable as both a noun and a verb, and it boasts an extraordinary breadth. We may say, “I hope to catch the 6:42 a.m.,” or “I hope the kids don’t catch a cold,” and, at the other end of the spectrum, Christians are exhorted to pray “for all who have died in the hope of the Resurrection.” So where do the hopes that Comey cited yesterday, in his own utterances and in his reports of others’ speech, belong?"

Endemic Lying from Donald Trump

Donald Trump lies much of the time as analysts have tracked him. His rate of lying is approximately 60%. Some of my readers often respond to stories about politicians lying by saying, "They all do it," as if that is an acceptable alibi. It isn't.

Trump said that he is not a politician, so does that mean his lies are better because he is not?

As a trained analyst and independent journalist, I am thoroughly convinced that Donald Trump will be convicted on his lies, among other things.

What truly hurts government and the citizens are when his lies are propagated and multiplied by this executive appointees. Here is an example from The Washington Post, just in.

"Misleading rhetoric from President Trump and the EPA administrator about the coal industry’s comeback
Is this the renaissance of the coal industry? President Trump and Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt sure make it sound like it is. But the facts tell a different story. This week, we dug into two talking points by Pruitt and Trump on coal jobs and mines reopening.
Pruitt said in one interview: “We’ve added almost 50,000 jobs in the coal sector. In the month of May alone, almost 7,000 jobs.” The problem: There are only about 50,000 jobs in coal.
In other interviews, Pruitt more carefully referred to “mining and coal” or “coal jobs, mining jobs.” Notice how Pruitt emphasizes “coal” while trying to slip in a reference to “mining.”
That’s because Pruitt is actually using mining jobs figures going back to October 2016 — a net gain of 47,000 (and net gain of 6,600 from April to May 2017). Since Inauguration Day, the net gain of mining jobs is nearly 33,000.
But most of the gain in “mining” jobs has nothing to do with coal. So, rather than the gain of 47,000 jobs touted by Pruitt, the reality is that 1,000 coal jobs have been added since Trump became president. For the month of May, the gain was 400 jobs, not 7,000.
We awarded Pruitt Four Pinocchios."

Combative Bully Trump

Behavior is a sign of guilt. As anticipated, Donald Trump is not taking the Comey testimony lying down. His attorney plans to file a complaint about Comey's leaking his memos to the press. Alternatively, Trump could have breathed a momentary sigh of relief and moved on. That is not his style.

It appears to a common person that Trump attempted to intimidate and bully Comey while "hoping" that he would drop charges against Michael Flynn while "lifting the cloud" from his White House. "Hoping" and "lifting" are expressions of will and action by the President who is long on words and short on appreciating their meaning and intent.

Americans have a very bad President who by anyone's ears knows that he is an incessant liar.

Furthermore, Attorney General Jeff Sessions remains in office and on the hot seat for lying and perjuring. He has no business being in government and should be fired or impeached. He most surely will be prosecuted.

Having protected and covered for Flynn and Sessions constitute Misprision of Fraud as this independent journalist understands the law. Trump is covering for Jared Kushner and others too.

The Special Prosecutor is on his case.

President Trump is not above the law, nor is his ignorance of the law an excuse.

The Long Slog

Following the Comey testimony today, it was a good time to contemplate. There is no doubt that democracy is being tested by this President and some members of the Republican Party. The focus is on how the Russians interfered with American elections. It is also about the extent to which Donald Trump, his campaign, and the political party went along for the ride.

My hunch is that Donald Trump has conflicts of interest in business, including with the Russians. That will only be resolved with an Emolument Clause investigation. I hope that is ongoing.

More immediate matters include Michael Flynn and his involvement with the Russians and Flynn's relationship with the Trump campaign and Donald Trump. There was an apparent violation that is characterized as Misprision of Fraud. All of that will become apparent as the Special Prosecutor does his job.

Along the way, perhaps as immanent, are apparent violations by Attorney General Jeff Session and Presidential Advisor, Jared Kushner, among others.

Due process takes time, and it is a good thing that bipartisan investigators are not presuming guilt as everyone has an opportunity to defend themselves.

Meanwhile, there are members of Congress who must be vigilant about their not obstructing justice and impeding the investigations. Some leaders may have already done that and investigations may include them as they have taken money from Russian sources, apparently.

That is the operative word, "apparently." Apparent means, seeming to be true, and there is a lot of that lying in circumstantial evidence.
