Fire the Leadership of the Democratic Party at Once

Who are the leaders?

Whether you like their performance or not, here is a review of the people in charge of the Democratic Party. I am looking over this list because I lack confidence in the party's direction and future. 

There is a strong belief that the Democrats will lose control of the House and Senate in the next election cycle.

At the top of the list is President Joe Biden. He said while running that he would be a one-term President, and that was a bad idea because we voters deserve a candidate who is able and capable of holding office for two complete terms. In my book, How to Select an American President, I explain that we need a total return from our investment, and president Boden is too old.

If the Democrats had their act together, Vice President Harris would be positioned as the heir apparent in this circumstance. She has done little or nothing to enhance the Biden administration, and she brings little to the political table in terms of the numbers of additional voters.

The administration is a flop.

Now, the Democrats should support the Biden agenda by helping score success. Then, immediately, the party leadership should counsel him to retire and to advance new candidates.

As for the Senate and House leadership, Schumer and Pelosi are equally done.

The trouble is, he did not defeat Lindsey Graham and therefore did not deliver South Carolina, and he has not demonstrated the application of executive experience.

""The last three years have not been at all what I would have scripted for our city," she said, citing a major cyberattack in her first months in office and a federal investigation into corruption under her predecessor, former Mayor Kasim Reed, "that seemed to suck the air out of City Hall literally."

"There was last summer. There was a pandemic, and there was a social justice movement. There was a madman in the White House," she said.

She has qualifications for higher office, except she sucked wind and quit her ambition.

That means the top two "leaders" of the Democratic Party are not leaders at all! You two are fired, and Tammy Duckworth should be promoted at once.

The Once Great America

I recall a time when I witnessed America's greatness. It was when Dad left the Navy to work at the aerospace plant. His career progressed year by year, with only a few scares and stutters when the defense business slumped, but never very long.

A man with a high school education backed by military training could start a good life to raise two boys. Mom didn't have to work and could devote full time to managing the household and teaching boys responsibilities. 

When the boys had college on the horizon, Mom went to work as an entrepreneur as a beautician. Both parents saved for our college education that was a specific goal.

My dad taught me to go to work early, and I had many part-time jobs beginning at age twelve. My parents taught me to save money, opening a bank account, and I bought my car while still in high school.

I earned college support through a scholarship and worked at the aircraft factory. I took my time settling on a career direction, changing college majors because I had the discretion in time and money to do that.

While the Vietnam war raged, I was on a student deferment until I ran out of time. I joined the National Guard and graduated from Officer Candidate School. I graduated from college and got a great job at Western Electric Company and the Bell System.

Based on advanced training at the Bell System, I could advance my career in other manufacturing corporations until I could see the end was near. America's manufacturing industries were dying a swift death.

I saw it first hand while at Bendix Corporation, where we made the best metrology instruments in the world. Being best didn't matter when foreign competitors could compete with cheaper products.

I became a publisher of manufacturing magazines and a leading computer journal. I fought hard to help advertisers succeed by merchandising their products with excellent articles.

It didn't matter. American policies discouraged domestic manufacturing and rewarded capitalists for placing their bets abroad. Capitalists are not patriotic. 

I shifted to consulting with the Department of Defense, focussing on logistics. I did what I could to promote American manufacturers. That was another losing battle except for American aerospace industries that sustained the industrial base for national security reasons.

Complain about the military-industrial complex if you wish; if we didn't have it, we would be completely dead and vulnerable.

In today's news, people are fretting that Starbucks can't find enough workers and must close early at 3 pm. Republicans are blocking an infusion of investment in infrastructure and workforce development in the wake of giving tax breaks to wealthy persons and corporations that ran up the debt and deficit.

Get real, America, if you can. I doubt it.

What grieves me most this day, twenty years after terrorists attacked our nation, is not the fact that it took so long to find and kill Osama bin Laden or the fact that the 9/11 mastermind, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, is still in Guantanamo navigating his prosecution, or the fact that American oil interests drove Middle East foreign policy resulting in thousands of soldiers' deaths without a desirable outcome. 

What grieves me most is that domestic terrorists attacked our nation's capital on January 6, 2021, under the leadership of an insurrectionist President Trump and the seditionist Republican Party that continues to hold representation for an uneducated and deplorable population of Americans who risk everyone's freedom and national security for their convoluted notion of individualism. 

America is hanging by a thread, where seventy-five percent of the population is held hostage by a twenty-five percent minority of extremists. The labels other than domestic terrorists and traitors are too complicated.

I witness President Biden during the Afghanistan withdrawal, Covid, and the hurricane disaster is a steady hand. He didn't plan to have a two-year term, and he may not pursue one. There is no backup as Vice President Harris appears to be a dud.

What Democrats need is a leader beyond the Biden administration, which is not forthcoming. I only know one Democrat leader in Ohio, Senator Sherrod Brown. I have no idea who my local party leaders are. I am a citizen with unknown representation, and it is not as if I am not an activist. I asked Senator Brown to consider my books on the Presidency and economics. He thanked me for the letter and asked for a donation to the Democratic Party. No more donations. Then, I will address the performance of his Executive staff and Department heads.

Next, I will address the Republican leadership's response.

Second, I will address Biden's approach to COVID.

Then I will address the performance of Health and Human Services.

Then, I will discuss the Republican Governor's approaches.

Third, I will address Biden's approach to natural disasters,

specifically, Hurrican Ida.

Then, I will discuss the Republican's response and roles during the disaster.

Biden's Afghanistan Performance

1. He made the correct decision to withdraw on August 31.
2. He was consistent and honest about it.
3. Lacking is a global strategy to address terrorism from places like Afghanistan, and there are many.

Republican's Afghanistan Performance

1. Donald Trump bailed without proper preparation.
2. Trump negotiated with the Taliban and undercut the sitting Afghan government.
3. Trump set a withdrawal date of May 1, and that was too soon.
4. George Bush and Republicans led the U.S. into a war in Afghanistan to eliminate al Qaeda and pursue Bin Laden.
5. Bush defeated al Qaeda, and Obama finished Bin Laden and recommitted to nation-building.
6. Trump mandated a withdrawal from Afghanistan.
7. When Biden withdrew, Republicans sniped.

Biden's COVID Approach

1. Biden advanced the speed and rate of COVID vaccine development and deployment.
2. Biden promoted mask-wearing and safe-distancing.
3. The healthcare response to COVID improved under Biden with heavy resistance and balking by Republican governors.

Republican COVID Performance

1. Disaster
2. Lying and misinformation
3. Unnecessary deaths and a threat to the nation
