An Apalling Situation Made Worse by Hoekstra

Pete Hoekstra was a Donald Trump campaign surrogate. He is the Ranking Member of the House Intelligence Committee. He was asked by a CNN correspondent if he believed that Donald Trump should claim executive privilege to prevent former FBI Director, James Comey from testifying before House investigators. He said yes. Asked if he believed that it was appropriate for Trump to Tweet and talk about the conversation while preventing Comey from giving his side of the story. Hoekstra would not answer that question.

Instead, he said that he believes the entire matter is best addressed by the Special Counsel.

First, consider Hoekstra's credentials. He is not a lawyer. He was born in the Netherlands. He was a marketing manager for Herman Miller, a contract furniture maker.

He is a precise example of what is wrong with how Americans select Members of the House of Representatives. His unqualified view exacerbates an appalling situation.
