President Trump will sign an executive order today to interpret Judaism as a nationality, and not just a religion, a White House official said. The order, first reported by The New York Times, will allow the administration to withhold federal funding from colleges and universities if they fail to combat perceived anti-Semitism. The move is targeted at anti-Israel sentiments and divestment movements on campuses, but critics say the policy could suppress free speech and opposition to Israel’s policies toward Palestinians. The order comes just days after Trump was accused of using anti-Semitic stereotypes in a speech to an Israeli-American organization."

It makes sense that Israel is a state and that its citizens are a nationality based on most of its citizens being of the Jewish faith. They are Israelis. However, are citizens of the United States of America defined by faith as a nationality? Is it presumed that Americans are a Christian majority, for instance, and that its citizens are therefore Christian? That would be a clear violation of the US Constitution that assures religious freedom and equality. Trump is playing his political hand again and his behavior is simply wrong.

Trump and Republicans try to exploit religion for their political gain and it is a national embarrassment.

 Washington (CNN) Several Jewish groups have criticized President Donald Trump over a speech he delivered Saturday to an Israeli-American organization, accusing him of using anti-Semitic stereotypes. 

 Speaking at the Israeli American Council National Summit in Florida, Trump suggested that many of the attendees at the event are wealthy and in real estate and that their wealth would guide their votes in the 2020 presidential election. 

 "A lot of you are in the real estate business because I know you very well. You're brutal killers, not nice people at all. But you have to vote for me, you have no choice," he said.”
