Ever Been Locked Up?
Yesterday, I went about business as usual,
communicating with Facebook friends,
sharing stories, discussing the news, and posting ekphrastic poems illustrated with watercolors.
Normally, I post my original material, although sometimes I repost others' work, such as art by cartoonist Ralph, who depicted red swastikas on the White House.
I reposted the image because I believe President Trump’s behavior is like a Nazi, dictatorial, authoritarian, and bigoted , to say the least. I would not create such an image, nor would I illustrate the President as an orange dogpile.
However, Meta/Facebook caught wind of it, apparently, and someone or their AI filter flagged me for violating the FB hate or otherwise rules, which resulted in my page and Messenger service being shut down.
I was locked out and put in Meta FB jail, left without my normal communication channel on which I depend. In the old days, the telephone company did all it could to ensure its customers were not without service.
That is not the case with Meta/FB—they shut me down and locked me out without saying why. They didn’t say that it was because of the swastika post, though that is the only thing I can think of.
Now, I feel like an immigrant, swept off the street, not knowing my fate; moreover, I feel like a citizen whose free speech was cut off at the throat by an invisible force that offered a chance to appeal. How can I appeal when I don’t know the specific charge?
My future use of the Meta/FB communication channel is suspect because I no longer trust it. Not pouting, but I will tell my friends I am on the Google Channel, where they can find me speaking freely--and of course, my poetry is on AllPoetry.com.
PS: IF YOU READ THIS POST, PLEASE SHARE IT AND TELL PEOPLE THAT I AM NOT YET DEAD. THANK YOU.
