Probing the probes

Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz (Utah) and Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (Va.) have launched a perjury probe into statements made by Mrs. Clinton during Benghazi and email investigations for which the FBI has declared, "Case Closed." Of course, this is a politically motivated investigation like so many other failed attempts by Republicans to bring down the Democratic nominee.

Republicans failed to produce a viable candidate, and in the absence of ideas, they are resorting to legislative and legal abuse not entirely unlike Donald Trump trying to wear out people suing him because he can outlast them.

First, let's probe the probes. Who are Bob Goodlatte and Jason Chaffetz?

“Bob Goodlatte

Assumed office January 3, 2013
Chair of the House Agriculture Committee

Goodlatte is a lawyer who spent 7 years in private practice and all of the rest working for the government as a professional politician. He has accomplished nothing while in office.

“Jason Chaffetz
Chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform
Assumed office January 3, 2015
Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Utah's 3rd district
Assumed office January 3, 2009
Personal details

Chaffetz is a most unremarkable professional politician.

In both instances, these two politicians are motivated only to keep themselves in the headlines to get reelected because they have accomplished nothing.
