A solution to madmen in charge: Korea and America

The question posed by an FB friend and blog reader warrants an essay reply.

Prescott Lunt asked, “What's your solution to this Korean Madman? He doesn't listen to anybody, just keeps testing and blowing things up, until he finally sends one our way. We have a President who needs to sharpen his listening skills and diplomacy and choice of words with this Madman before it's an irretrievable situation.”

First, let’s define the problems.

1.     America is led by a flawed and possibly illegal President and the regime that was installed by suspicious circumstances that are under investigation by a Special Prosecutor.
2.     The Republican-controlled Congress has repeatedly compromised its integrity through acts of obstructing justice and impeding the investigation.
3.     Both political parties are in disarray, the actions by the sitting government have undermined the rule of law and Constitution as due process and the Court is addressing.
4.     North Korea has been a persistent enemy of the free-world, acting as a rogue state.
5.     North Korea would not exist as a nation without the support from China and Russia who protect the regime.
6.     North Korea is protected by China and Russia as a means to maintain a balance of power in the Asian region.
7.     North Korea is now led by a Supreme Leader and government that has succeeded in developing nuclear weapons and delivery systems.
8.     North Korea has launched ICBMs flying over international waters and our allied nations including Japan.

America’s North Korean enemy is an enemy of the free world. The American President and government must work to maintain support from allies to isolate North Korea economically and militarily.

North Korea’s progress in developing nuclear weapons has reached a crisis stage whereby the rogue state not only tests weapons but threatens to use them on an overt war against the US and allies.

President Donald Trump disrupted diplomacy in the matter and increased the war of words that have real consequences in pushing North Korea to react and respond militarily.

Actions by the Trump administration have nudged China to increase sanctions, however, Trump may have spooked China with his irresponsible and reckless words and actions that made matters worse.

The solution to the situation requires several parts.

1.     The Republican Party in concert with the Democrats needs to impeach Donald Trump for both high crimes and misdemeanors as well as incompetence and unsuitable performance.
2.     The combined leadership of statesmen must reform a temporary government with a call for a new Presidential election.
3.     The interim government must work in collaboration with allies to isolate North Korea, though it must also offer a way forward.
4.     Allies must negotiate for the dismantling and removal of all nuclear weapon capability in North Korea in exchange for economic trade and assistance.
5.     Allies must use all available means to communicate directly to the North Korean population to inform them that the people are not the enemy of the free-world, but their leadership is the problem.

6.     Allies must appeal to North Koreans for regime change.
