Arrest Kevin McCarthy for Sedition

Kevin McCarthy, House Minority Leader, opposes a bipartisan and independent investigation into the January 6 insurrection that resulted in death, destruction, and disruption of the presidential election process. He leads fellow Republicans in opposing this action because they want to sweep the event under the rug without fully understanding how it happened and people's roles in the process, including him.

Today, the problem facing the American democratic republic is that Trump-led Republicans are insurrectionists intent on undermining the government. While they are seated in government, they have a conflict of interest, so a third-party investigation is essential.

Journalist Elie Honig is keeping the heat on.

" the Justice Department, which, to date, has brought criminal charges against over 400 Capitol insurrectionists while stating publicly it expects approximately 100 more prosecutions to come. That's a lot of cases and a fine start, but it's not enough. Remember that, at Attorney General Merrick Garland's confirmation hearing, when asked if he would look "upstream" from the Capitol rioters themselves to those who had funded, aided and abetted the riot, Garland talked tough: "We begin with the people on the ground and we work our way up to those who are involved and further involved and we will pursue these leads, wherever they take us."

I join Elie in asking the Attorney General, where are the sedition charges? What is the status of the upstream investigation?

Maybe the AG and Biden are holding off to let Congress initiate an independent investigation. Yet, if Republicans block it, then let the chips fall and AG Garland must act swiftly to make some cases.
