Over-promised, alternative facts, fraud
When candidate Trump said that he would reveal his IRS filings after the audit and that he would divest his business holdings to comply with the no-conflicts-of-interest statute, he lied. He has done neither.
President Trump has demonstrated in just a few weeks in office something that others who know him well have said, "He is a fraud." He also pretended to know a lot about government because "He is smart," Guess what, he has proven to know very little. He doesn't listen or read. He is hopeless and unprepared.
Meanwhile, the political party to which he belongs and that is responsible for his being, control both legislative chambers. There, it should be a slam dunk to get things done. Except, their leader is off on Twitter tantrums. His agenda is noise in the system and often misaligned with theirs.
The relentless attack on Obamacare had gotten dialed back because when Republican legislators finally started working on the issue and stopped talking, they discover some things are performing well. It is a difficult job making it better.
The government is now broken in the Executive and Legislative Branches, and thanks to the Courts we are a nation surviving by the Rule of Law.

"GOP frets over too-high expectations
President Trump and GOP leaders on Capitol Hill have promised voters that 2017 will bring the repeal and replacement of ObamaCare, a long-awaited overhaul of the tax code and funding for a “great wall” along the U.S.-Mexico border.
Now, some in the party are wondering whether Republicans have bitten off more than they can chew.
Conservative naysayers inside and outside the Capitol argue that it’s not just about the GOP-controlled Congress’s slow start in carrying out Trump’s agenda."

The government is now broken in the Executive and Legislative Branches, and thanks to the Courts we are a nation surviving by the Rule of Law.
Not ready for prime time.
The Right Branch is Wrong
Amid the calls by many Americans to chop off the Trump administration, the appeals court added another log by staying the Trump's executive order immigration ban. Trump continued to lash out against the judges who are the third branch of government in our Democratic Republic.
When Congress fails to prevent, moderate, and correct Presidential mistakes, then the people have one more avenue to pursue, and that is the Court.

"Trump rips court for ‘disgraceful decision.'
President Trump on Friday morning ripped into an appeals court’s ruling to reject his executive order on immigration and refugees, calling it a “disgraceful decision.”
Citing a legal blog called Lawfare, Trump tweeted: “LAWFARE: ‘Remarkably, in the entire opinion, the panel did not bother even to cite this (the) statute.’ A disgraceful decision!”
The Hill, emailTherein, the President is showing disrespect for the process that is our American Political System to which he is sworn to protect and not to demean. There are initiatives on different fronts to remove the errant President who is a threat to national security.

Government Agencies forced to come clean
Due process is the only way.
It is about time. Since the FBI, National Security, and IRS have not offered any information on their own; it must be extracted from them. The Emolument Constitutional Violation case is in the judicial process now, whereby attorneys are requesting all documents.
"Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) filed a “resolution of inquiry” Thursday, a relatively obscure parliamentary tactic used to force presidents and executive-branch agencies to share records with Congress. Under House practice, such a resolution must be debated and acted upon in committee or else it can be discharged to the House floor for consideration.
Nadler’s resolution asks Attorney General Jeff Sessions to provide “copies of any document, record, memo, correspondence, or other communication of the Department of Justice” that pertains to any “criminal or counterintelligence investigation” into Trump, his White House team or certain campaign associates; any investment made by a foreign power or agent thereof in Trump’s businesses; Trump’s plans to distance himself from his business empire; and any Trump-related examination of federal conflict of interest laws or the emoluments clause of the Constitution."

It is just a matter of time and due process.
What if scenario
What if Donald Trump is charged with an emolument Constitutional violation, and it sticks? What might be the consequences?
What if investigators at the FBI, IRS, and National Security Agency discover conflicts of interest or worse involving the President and Russians?
What if President Trump Executive Order on immigration is found to be illegal and unenforceable?
What if President Trump's public attacks on judges before and after his becoming the incumbent are considered to involve discriminatory and false remarks, as well as discrediting the third branch of government?
What if President Trump's publicity spokesperson is found to have violated statutes by promoting the sale of his daughter's retail merchandise?
What we have here is a litany of fact-based circumstances any one of which can result in a conviction.
What if, along with the course, it is determined that members of Congress knowingly went along with the President's illegal acts and covered for him?
It is not out of the realm of possibility that the Republican-led government can deteriorate under its violations. At what point will leaders in the Republican Party seek to regain the controls of this apparently errant government?

System under stress test
The American political system is experiencing a stress test that might be compared to a nuclear meltdown. The Nation has been here before at the time of the Civil War. States seceded to preserve their degree of racial discrimination that was manifest in the institution of slavery. They used State's Rights as justification, believing that State's could set their own marks on freedom and liberty for all.
Violent warfare pitted the assembly of states into the Federalists versus the Confederation. Had the outcome been any different, one an only conjecture the possibilities.
Driven by the shared desire for unity, and renewed commitment to the US Constitution, the United States of America emerged again. Being a young nation, inventing a democratic republic, the people and their government continued to evolve. Abandoning discriminatory behavior and old ways doesn't happen overnight. It takes generations. To this day, there remain laggard states and communities, where education, intellect, and economic development falter.
Against this backdrop of American reality, each citizen, no matter their degree of preparedness, and no matter their intelligence and cultural upbringing possess the same power to select and elect their representatives.
On that note, governing America is on the average. That is, we may strive for the best while being constrained by our lowest common denominator.
The incumbent President and Congress are demonstrating extreme tendencies away from the middle of America to a branch of conservatism that is not aligned with the majority. The tension is building between the forces. Only the rule of law can prevent the system for breaking into violent deterioration.
Lunch is being served by the President.

President Donald Trump has invited a group of Democratic senators from largely Republican states to join him in the White House for lunch Thursday, in a likely attempt to make inroads with the opposition party, according to USA Today.
Sens. Heidi Heitkamp, Jon Tester, Joe Manchin and Joe Donnelly received the invitation on Tuesday, just after the contentious confirmation of Trump's Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos. USA Today received confirmation of the invitations from three congressional aides and one White House official, who said several Republicans were also invited.”

Blog Reader Challenge
Here at How to Select an American President blog spot (http://howtoselectanamericanpresident.blogspot.com/2017/02/on-trial-president-who-lies.html?spref=fb), readers are asked to submit the names of their political representatives that they would like me to evaluate employing the method suggested in my new book.
Here's how it works:
1. Readers provide a name and their incumbent office
2. I will describe the job model for the position
3. I will present the evaluation criteria
4. I will score the incumbent and provide a brief assessment
The reports are examples of how to use the method. The approach bears the caveat that voters can weight criteria as to their priorities and may apply point values as they see fit. My score is my view, and the rest is up to voters.
