Trump's assault on America

The Donald Trump regime is continuing to assault America and the pluralistic democratic republic. Evidence includes the attack on the free press, interference in the FBI investigation of his ties with Russians and conflicts of interest. Trump has assaulted Americans with bigoted attempts to ban immigration that has been struck down by the Courts. It was his stated attack on Muslims that created the context in which his ban was determined to be unAmercian and illegal.

Trump and his appointees are systematically destroying departments of the government that have legal standing from acts of Congress. He shows disregard for the U.S. political process as defined by the Constitution.

Trump's actions have been condoned or ignored by Republican members of the U.S. Congress. That is gross negligence or worse as some have obstructed justices by their actions.

The continuing assault by Trump and members of the Republican Party serve to delegitimize the government both the executive branch and Congress. That leaves the Courts and the rule of law as the only channel by which to address these violations of liberty and justice.

Citizens must be aware and vigilant that their freedoms are presently in danger by this tyrannical regime.

"The Trump White House has been caught trying to pressure the FBI into undermining a vital national security investigation into the explosive ties between senior Trump officials and Russian intelligence agents, an action which is in violation of Department of Justice rules and which may also be illegal," Pelosi said in a statement.
"Political interference in the integrity of an FBI investigation into the conduct of White House officials is a grave abuse of power. The rule of law depends on the FBI's complete independence, free from political pressure from the targets of its investigations," she added.
Sen. Kamala Harris of California, who serves on the Senate Intelligence Committee, called on Attorney General Jeff Sessions to recuse himself from the probe."

Both the Executive Branch and Republican Congress are illegitimate by their actions that undermine their oaths of offices.

  1. Question to Democratic leadership: Who is in charge of getting the facts?

“We need to assemble all of the facts, and right now there are a lot of questions about the president’s personal, financial and political ties with the Russian government before the election, but also whether there were any assurances made,” said California Rep. Eric Swalwell, a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. “Before you can use the ‘I’ word, you really need to collect all the facts."

“The ‘I’ word we should be focused on,” added Pennsylvania Rep. Brendan Boyle, “is 'investigations.'"

  2. Donald Trump Just Showed Us Why His Presidency Is Uniquely Terrifying
"It's not that modern presidents couldn't do these things. They just didn't. And we all came to assume that none of them would. The technical machinery of government—collecting data, hiring staffers, working by the rules—would be left alone to operate in a professional and impartial way. But that's no longer something we can assume." —Kevin Drum.
