A naive amateur, Donald Trump has waived off daily intel
briefings. The daily interaction and discussion about intelligence matters is
the process for keeping current about subtle changes and new information. While
the daily content may not always include new information, the opportunity for
the president to ask questions and to discuss issues is a way to sustain
knowledge.
Of course, this president believes he knows it all,
apparently. The fact is, he does not. The fact is that he barely knows and
understands the 56 bureaucratic organizations that deliver to Americans
services that they need to protect them. The organizations exist by acts of
Congress. The president’s job is to faithfully execute the laws that keep them
in business.
This president somehow believes otherwise. The moment that
he decides unilaterally not to faithfully execute the laws to which he will be
sworn to protect, he is in violation of his oath. Watch for those breaches
because they will become the mountain of evidence for impeachment, possible
recall, and trial for treason if it comes to that.
