When the Bible need not apply

Fifty-two years after the death of Jesus, the Apostle Paul allegedly wrote the oldest book of The New Testament of the Christian Bible. There is some debate about the purity of the artifact and contents, though that is not the point here.

A Congressman quoted the Bible as justification for not feeding poor people who are unwilling to work. The Bible has no place in this discussion because a democratic Republic under our U.S. Constitution separates church from state. The Congressman doesn't get that.

As for regulating assistance to poor people, that is worthy of the Congressman expressing his personal manifesto and referencing that with his Political Party Platform.
"Republican Congressman: The Bible says unemployed people shouldn’t be fed
Texas Rep. Jodey Arrington quoted 2 Thessalonians 3:10, which says "if a man will not work, he shall not eat"

Here is the scripture.
"2 Thessalonians 3:10
For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: 'The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.'”

Now, is the 21st Century, and new values and mores apply. In fact, the U.S. Constitution is a living and breathing document that is maintained by contemporary laws and regulations.

What should be the law of the land about Poverty? Let's not take a cheap shot at some poor person to which you wish to throw stones, Representative Jody Arrington.
Matt. 7:1 "Do not judge, or you too will be judged."
"Let him who is without sin cast the first stone."
Keep your faith in your conscience, all of it. Don't get lost in the forest for the trees.

Manifesto Topic: Poverty

Subtopic: Assisting the poor and obligations of the poor for obtaining assistance

Poverty: Citizens of the United States of America shall not live in poverty. Adults with children shall be supported such that they can work to support and care for their children. No child shall live in poverty.

How will the USA accomplish this requirement without excuse?

What are the obligations of citizens to qualify for and to earn assistance? What are the incentives for personal development and improvement? What are the penalties, such as loss of freedoms for those adults who are deficient in their responsibilities?

If adults are deficient, what might be the reasons? If mental and physical disabilities are factors, what is society's mandate to help individuals cope?

You answer these questions, Congressman Jodey Arrington. That is your job.

Pigging out with Jodey Arrington
