My American Spirit Isn't Broken

I can say that having embraced the vision to help American voters get smarter about their choices and decisions is now a life remaining ambition that is inspiring. It would be easier to reflect on Election 2016 with despair and discouragement that the Electoral College snookered the majority in numbers. However, we live for the long-run and must accept short-term setbacks.

The future of America, as always, lies with our youth. It also lies within the elasticity and capacity for people to learn and grow from mistakes.

Some things about human beings at a particular stage in development are much harder to change. Once a bigot, always a bigot. Once a misogynist, always a misogynist, and so forth.

The end game is to develop a strong majority of citizens who is enlightened and educated about their world. Evil forces work against that aim, making the need for better persons to double down on their quest for a better world.

My belief is that America needs renewing. It needs to develop a sustainable economy. The nation needs a renewable energy strategy because anything less is a dead end. Renewable energy is a catalyst for economic renewal, and that idea seems to be lost on Republicans and the President.

Our strength as a nation lies in our Constitution and democratic pluralism. That too is lost by this President and Congress.

What is broken is the present government and leadership. Even with that as a barrier, American citizens remain in charge. They can resist and oust the present regime by due process and the rule of law.

President Trump pushed the reset button after a rocky first month in office, delivering an on-message joint address to Congress that outlined his vision for America.
"I am here tonight to deliver a message of unity and strength, and it is a message deeply delivered from my heart," Trump said at the outset, declaring that "the torch of truth, liberty, and justice ... is now in our hands. And we will use it to light up the world."
